All articles submitted for publication undergo a multi-stage evaluation process:
1. In the initial stage of the evaluation process, editors perform anti-plagiarism checks on all articles submitted by authors (for more details, please refer to the Ethics and Malpractice section of the website). Only articles that meet the standards of academic integrity and ethical conduct proceed to the next stages of the evaluation process.
2. In the next stage, the editorial team checks the compliance of the submitted articles with the theme of the volume (in the case of thematic issues) or with the scientific profile and areas of interest of the journal (in the case of conference volumes). The editors will then evaluate the articles, analyzing their compliance with the writing standards described in the Instructions for Authors section. If the manuscripts comply with the above standards, they are first anonymised by the editorial team and then sent to reviewers from the journal’s Scientific Committee (see the list of committee members at the end of this document). Each article is evaluated by two reviewers (one from within the University of Bucharest and one from outside). The scientific evaluation of manuscripts is done in a “double-blind” process and takes approximately two months. The criteria for evaluating the scientific quality of articles include the following:
- accuracy of the facts presented;
- proven knowledge of relevant research;
- credibility of bibliographic resources;
- scientific relevance of the research;
- logical organization of arguments, clarity of presentation and reasoning.
3. Following the evaluation period, the editors anonymize the evaluation reports received from the reviewers, which contain one of the following decisions:
a) acceptance without changes
b) acceptance with minor changes
c) acceptance on condition that the manuscript is revised and resubmitted.
d) rejection
In each case, the report includes comments and recommendations that authors are expected to follow. The evaluation form is available in Romanian and English.
4. If there are discrepancies between the two reviews received for an article, the editors deliberate and decide in favor of one of the two evaluations to the extent that the subject matter of the article falls within their expertise. Otherwise, the article is sent for review to a third specialist.
5. Authors who have received decisions of acceptance with minor changes or revisions (options b or c under point 3 above) are requested to submit the final version of the article within two weeks.
Revised articles (situation 3 c) are sent back to the reviewers who requested the revision, who then decide on their publication or rejection.
6. Authors who have received confirmation of publication of their article fill out and send the publication agreement in Romanian or English to the editorial office.
